Planning a wedding during a pandemic means that a team has to work together to make sure everything is planned in a safe way. The team that created this beautiful styled shoot breaks it down for us.
Vanessa, event planner:
The inspo: Inspired by the lush greens and floral pathways of Paulik Park, a blend of soft pastel colours against wood and gold tones paved the way for our garden themed style shoot. The vision was to create an intimate set up that is relatable for those looking for a simple and rustic celebration.
Pops of colour from the mango wood table, the gold cutlery set, the pink goblets and the vintage glass votives were used to balance the softness of the florals, the desserts, and the stationery. It was important for us to create a style that was versatile for an outdoor space of any size without sacrificing aesthetics.
Covid planning: This pandemic may have completely changed your wedding plans, but it didn’t change the fact that you want to get married. Do what feels right for you and your spouse as no two couples are the same. Don’t compare what you want to do with what others are doing. Most importantly, recognize you are not in this alone and always reach out for help when needed.
Kay, make-up artist and hair stylist:
The inspo: With this make-up I wanted to emphasize a glowing and healthy natural skin. I mainly focused on the complexion of the bride’s skin and defined the beautiful features that she already has. Her gorgeous olive skin tone blends really well with a pink tone, so I opted for a pink eyeshadow and lipstick with a fuchsia colour. The bride has medium length hair with an ash toned balayage color. I decided to add loose curls in her hair to create some movement and bring out her hair colour.
Covid planning: I have changed a few things in my business for safety reasons. I communicate more online with my clients, including online consultations. I sanitize my products and my hands (as usual) and now also wear mask. What has changed is that I ask my clients if they can use their own products. This is very sensitive time for everyone so I make sure to take it step by step when scheduling clients.
Desiree, cake artist:
The inspo: To match the romantic theme and intricate décor, I created three elegant yet simple single-tiered cakes.
The centrepiece cake is my popular London Fog flavour, which consisted of Earl Grey infused cake layers, filled with a silky lavender Italian meringue buttercream. Smoothed with a cake comb to create a textured buttercream, this cake is perfect for tea-loving couples and guests.
The pink ombre cake was a moist and velvety lemon cake, which had lemon layers embedded with fresh raspberries, and was filled with a juicy raspberry compote, as well as lemon cream cheese frosting. The yellow ombre cake was baked into light and airy lemon cake layers and was enveloped with a tangy lemon cream cheese buttercream frosting. These two ombre cakes were lightly touched with edible gold leaf to match with the decor, a classic way to uniquely stylize your cakes.
The garden themed cupcakes were individually piped to recreate the florist’s beautiful bouquets of white dahlias and blush roses. These beautiful edible piped flowers sat on top of soft velvet cupcakes, which melt into your mouth after each bite.
And last but not least, the macarons were filled with a fresh raspberry compote. The simplicity of these blush coloured macarons pairs wonderfully with the rest of the cupcakes and cakes.
Covid planning: As a part time Registered Nurse, I’m constantly working with proper PPE in the hospital and in public in order to ensure the safety of clients, as well as myself. In the kitchen, I emulate the same principles by wearing a mask and gloves when necessary. As well as constantly and properly washing my hands throughout my process.
Irene, stationery designer:
The inspo: For this shoot, I was inspired by florals and wanted to incorporate a raw, imperfect, organic, minimal look along with real pressed flowers into the stationery. These flowers were adhered onto an acrylic sheet which is hot stamped in gold foil. The menu also followed the same theme with the hand deckled edges, a wash of watercolour on the place card finished with a soft silk ribbon. The whole look is soft, subtle, and dainty, which is perfect for a garden tea party.
